Title: Introduction Thread
Post by: RiskManagement on June 22, 2017, 11:10:00 AM
Hey yall, feel like we need a thread for all of us to say hello, and get to know each other.
Ill go first, I'm RiskManagement I was in L.A. when it all happened,(deployed there)  i got out somehow and i'm now near Redding (yeah i know a lot of walking), At the Shasta Dam, We call ourselves "The Collective" but mostly everyone local calls us "those Dam Commies". Doesn't really matter to me what they call us as long as they are paying me. I'm good with Tactics and keeping my clients or fellow takers safe. If you know someone looking for an expert in security operations i'm your man.

Well I guess I can throw my two cents in this pot. To all you lovely residents of the Loss, I'm Wonderland and if you need any kind of recreational fun by all means give me a call. Just don't call me while I'm on a job, some of the guys in my crew get on me about that.

I'm currently hold up in Washington at a place called Portside. It's a nice little port town that's a weird combination of society's misfits I guess. I think the most interesting groups are the Wiccans, Communists, and Canadians that somehow get along, barely. If you ever find yourself in the area, don't hesitate to visit. If you're carrying drugs to sell, all the better. Just make sure to stay away from those RenCon douchebags, they're assholes.

Code Blue, up at Big Boy in Wyoming.  I got hit with Suppressant, so yeah latent.  Doesn't really help me get a lot of business fixing people up so I figured I'd cater to other latents.  You need patched up in the state, I'll make it worth your time to get here.

Grifter here, from Fort Stone on Yellowstone lake.

I was a LEO before the Crash, but my brother Whirligig and me grew up in the wilderness of Yellowstone. When the vec's started rampaging we went somewhere we thought best to get away. No people, plenty of food options...and we knew the land like the back of our hand.

Ran into others who had the same idea. Together we built Fort Stone. Been there ever since. I helped out with keeping the place secure and keeping the peace, while Whirligig put that brain of his to work and made transport on the water easier with those steam engines.

Never the type to just make due, we joined up with some others and formed The League. Now we are well on our way to a comfy retirement out here in the Loss.

You in the area looking for info, safe harbor or need saving, reach out. The League will be there.

Grifter out.

(A hodgepodge of 'nerds' formed a taker group. Grifter is into comics, his favorite being Grifter from WildC.A.T.S and Whirligig was big into steampunk. The others...well we'll see haha)

Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated!

Okay, so, Quarry Hill Brewing fell. Old story, someone doesn't report a bite and goes Vector. Me and one or two others, we got out. I'm down an arm and I'm Latent now (pro tip guys, cutting it off doesn't stop in the infection).

I'm at the Conda now. Big smokestack thing in Montana. Run by, I think they're Amish? Whatever, I'm not from America, I didn't learn the difference between Mormon or Amish or Melonites or whatever. In theory there's no booze allowed here, in practice hey guess what people like booze. They don't like Latents but if you're desperate for moonshine, you take the chance moonshine kills Blight.

Anyone wants some LatentBrau, hit me up.

Change the name and offer up some proof that your operation is at least half-assed sanitary and I'll get your brew selling Pacific to Mississippi within a year.

Also, I really feel like the forbiddeness and risque nature of it means we could actually find a market under the current name to the buffoons in the recession. They're always looking for the next vogue thing and anything Loss is always in fashion for them!

If you're in need of a prosthetic arm I think there might be a guy near me selling one. It's not one of those fancy robotic arms but I'm sure you could upgrade it if need be. Sometimes Crusaders pass through town as well so you might be able to find one to attach it successfully as well. Of course they might want "samples" in return.

I know a guy, it's fine. Medical engineer. One of those guys that had a six figure salary and then the world ended and he specialised in nothing worth a damn against a horde of biters. Actually, typing this on my new arm now (sorry for typos, still getting used to it)

I mean, I have what components I could salvage from the, you know, ruins of my former home once my former friends stopped trying to eat my flesh. But it's good high-quality parts, I'm a trained brewer. I know my shit. Hard part is sourcing the ingredients and putting up with the holier-than-thou Mormonites when they try and tell me small beer is the blood of the devil despite having an alcohol content so low you'd need to bathe in it to get half a buzz...

[a shaky, blurry photo of a complicated array of tubes, pipes and metal containers]

Shit, sorry, still getting used to the Ubiq functionality on this arm.

Hey Everyone, Dr. Dee here.

You wouldn't think a PhD in Critical Pedagogy would be of use in the loss, but 3 years working on literacy in rural Costa Rica actually prepped me pretty well for this life.  A little sustenance farming, some basic wilderness first aid/herb medicine, and a lot of teaching people how to do shit and you got yourself a bonafide survivor... I guess.

So... yeah.  I spent most of my life teaching people in shitty situations how to make their lives a little better.  Now I'm the one in the shitty situation.  Is that Karma?  I dunno.

Now the hard sell.  I know plants pretty well so if you're trying to remember that one thing from"Outlander" that made hemorrhoids feel better, I can probably help you HMU.  I also do consulting on conclave agriculture and education.  I know for takers, teaching kids reading doesn't feel like a priority, but its been 5 years, turns out there are quite a few folks out there that need school stuff.  Your enclave might be one of them.

I've got a pretty good collection of school supplies and resources that I can drone most places.  So if someone in your enclave gets itching to teach some kiddos, I can help.  My price is pretty fair.

Also, if you come across anything like worksheets, textbooks, w/e.  I'm always looking to buy.

Hello hello hello, Iditarod here, hailing from Freelance in the 10k!

Even before the Crash, I was a professional animal trainer (matter of fact, if you figure out my ID, you can find a few movie credits), so if any of you need a tip or two when it comes to dealing with beasties, I'm the guy you should turn to: my rates are quite reasonable.

What else about me... I've been back and forth over the walls a few times, so I've got some connections that could help the right person looking for a way home.

Speaking of, if any of you folks know a good cameraman, feel free to contact me over Ubiq. I have some interesting ideas about making the Loss a better place.

I don't negotiate any more, but if you're in need of some emergency medical advice, hit me up. I care more about keeping y'all healthy and fighting the good fight, so my rates are real reasonable.

Talk to me if you're getting close to hopping the line, all right? I don't know safe houses, but I know some folks who's contacts you can trust.

Referee here, I'm a semi-retired Taker from out of Achieve, an urban enclave built inside a fortified stadium. Call bullshit on that all you want, but Achieve is an IRL place built on years of isolation, bloody work and hard-won achievements.

No, really. We made a cheevos a thing, using the next-generation UFit and our stadium's jumbotron. Useful device - it really puts the 'merit' in 'meritocracy' when you can tell who's slacking and who's cracking. Check our enclave's orgchart, if you want more details. Shame we have about 100% of the UFits in existence and the only running server. More of these could've done a ton of good out in the Loss.

Sitch-wise we only secured a route out of the city last year, and have started trading with Trickledown and Fort Remedy for luxuries, but if anyone wants to drone in rare goods we'd love to deal with someone other than Tricklers, Downers and quasi-Moths selling 'performance enhancers'. Make it a good deal though or there will be no deal. We don't tolerate Randian bullshit, and be warned that there's a new 'Reclamation' achievement for dealing with anyone who's stinted an Achiever. Trust me, nothing will get a cheevo-hunting High Scorer on your ass faster than a new rare.

If anyone needs tips on urban Taking, call me. I'll tell you to not do it, then how to not do it and then how to maybe survive it, since you're going to insist on going anyway. I also run the Fit Pit, Achieve's gymnasium in Getters'burg, and can offer you fitness advice. Drop by if you're ever crazy enough to visit.

This is "The Passerby" and yes the definitive is important, it's part of the name after all, but it's all right to call me Passer, Pass, By, or however you want to shorten it down. Southern California is where I call my home range, but given how dense and urban it was, I tend to move around a lot and follow the caravans and trains around the West. I was always bit of a gun nut, so when they were deputizing people, knowing how to aim a gun got you put higher on the list before the government pulled out.

I'm mostly a freelancer and known associate, going to start my own crew once I get the particulars sorted, but for now all I got is some good boots on my feet and some good glass on my rifle.

Though fuck, I knew I should have taken that laser eye surgery deal all those years ago. Having glasses out in the Loss ain't fun, but thank god I can just get my prescription filled and new glasses drone dropped.

[Here] is a link to a Ubiq page where you can find good quality prosthetics from a supplier in St. Louis, but you'll have to pay for the BeeMail to drone it out to you unless you live in that area. He has everything from commercial pre-Crash replacements to the kind of matte-black killer arms the Ducks give to their professional murderers--I have one of each, as a matter of fact.

Anyways, I'm Silver. I hopped the river to pay off old debts in Free Parking way back when and lost both arms to love bites. I do contracting and human resources primarily, but as much as I'd love to sit inside the fence between negotiations my current crew is a basket of jackasses and someone has to herd them into making a profit. We do runs in the Sacramento area, but our plan is to get the hell back to the Recession once we get the money--as nice as it is being so far from Jackboot country, it's also a real strain trying to get medicine and other complex goods way the fuck out here.

Don't really remember much from the crash, or even before it. I know I was in Los Angeles when it happened. Now I'm not. Had to move on. Too hot out there and I want to be ready before I head back. Don't ask about jobs into Phoenix or the Palo Verde red zone, half our crew escaped the Valley after the crash and you can't pay us to go back.  Outside that we will take any job if the pay is right, bounty talks.

Hey guys,

I'm KgreaterthanD

Background? I was a biologist. I know what your thinking. I can hear your "it's a fucking crusader" alarm going off. I'm not. I've seen what happens to those nut jobs. The whole question of what the blight is, is kinda moot. We know everything we need to know about it, as it stands. Besides my specialism was the interface between Evolutionary Biology and Ethology. I will talk your ear off about the modelling of C behaviour.

My crew are based in the black hills national forest, near deadwood.

Ah, man, somethings come up. I'll finish this later!

So, yeah, where was I?

I mostly do scouting and Casualty management for my crew. Handy with a long gun and can move through woodlands pretty safely (I did my Doctoral work on grey wolves).

We have a focus on scores...Ask me about charcoal!

My long term goal? Clear Deadwood of Casualties.

My name is Gary McSchmidle-stick, a 70 year old man who is the Leader/Diplomat of the Boulder Men Crew. We live in an enclave located in the Hooverdam.

If you need a place to stay, go to Hoover Dam, we have very low standards.

I'm not quite trying to get into the recession, I'm gonna move out of America with my family out to Norway, I've heard it's held up swimmingly.

Kingfisher here, running a crew out of  the 'Circus'. You can probably guess where it got the name. it's a trade caravan now, though they've still got the tents and trailers etc.

I'm running a side gig in engineering consultancy and have a pretty sweet setup with 3D printers. Hit me up if you need some custom drone mods or need to fix your wind turbine.

We're currently pitched up in the salt lake city area, if you need takers over here, let me know.

PS, i've been asked to mention that the Circus guys are always in the market for fuel, and have the bounty to pay.

Goodtimes here. Interim Mayor of Takeride, have been since we pushed the raiders out.

Edit: Just a warning...I get another PM about taxes, I'm taking note and hiking your rates as an annoyance fee.

Well its evening here across the pond so I guess its good evening from me.

KillingTime here speaking to you all from our hell away from hell: Le ch√Ęteau du port. Yeah we still had some whimsy when we first named and built the place... ain't much of that left though. Situated in the former Calais port area and I say former because the most of the actual docks were bombed to shit by the valiantly withdrawing armies of what used to be NATO, so they couldn't be used by smugglers, the Mediterranean Alliance and mainly, though they would never admit it, us plain citizens. If you've heard of Dunkirk... it was many times worse than that.

So I don't know how much you people in the loss know about the situation here in this loss/wasteland, not a lot I would guess, since why the hell would you need to know about us here when you got more immediate problems such as survival but I'll be happy to fill you in somewhere else.

My specialty? Clocks, watches, timepieces, timers. Basically is it tells the time, requires a fine balance or a regular rhythm, I can fix it, mechanical or electronic. Oh and what uses would that have out here... I didn't mention my explosives expertise. I make the most reliable bombs in the area.
