Gearing up for a MR. JOLS and am interested in any alternate site complications( for if they fail their secret sensitivity check) that have been used or are in the hopper. We are planning the JOLS and playing it in the same ultra  session so I'm a bit nervous running it and trying to prep for anything I can in advance.

That leg ended with our riflemen head shotting two of the Archivists from out in the darkness and our melee guy (who had been conversing with them) running the last one through with a sword before initiative was even called. It got beautifully serious really fast.

Have any Markets out there had their takers interact with a Barter Economy? Tips?

Goodtimes, I wish I had some sellable info, you had better believe. I don't, though.

I may have another idea for you though. There's an enclave that has popped up recently near Bridge that just goes by "the people". We haven't had much interaction with them, but the crews that have come through our place from there all are carrying these homemade energy bar looking things like people used to eat before all hell broke loose. They tell us someone up there found a warehouse full of freeze dried corn and chia and they've been making something called pinole, mixing in the chia, and forming them up into bars for the takers and fencemen to use. We traded up for a handful of the things, and though they may not taste like much, they keep you on your feet.

While you are out looking for Soy you may keep a look out for those ingredients too. I'm over in east Kansas and am under the impression that the pinole idea came up from your area.

General Discussion / Re: Potential vs skills
« on: October 01, 2017, 08:50:20 PM »
That's a good question.

I think part of the answer lies in the mechanics of the game. (The cost of investment for hopefully greater return later as well as capping players from running amok with crazy high skill scores) and it helps maintain balance of the system.

I think it's easier for me to grasp the physical based potentials/skills when it comes to your question. Doing Latent P90x helps my whole body get stronger (Potential:Str), but doesn't help me swing my baseball bat more accurately. Once I practice accuracy with my swing (IE Raise Skill:Melee) I can start swinging the bat to my full strength Potential. Once my melee skill is topped out, I probably want to consider scoring some protein powder and doing more arm days, or heck, it's the loss, so I find some steroids that haven't been scavenged yet and get ripped out. Now my strength (Potenial:Str) is raised and I can think about finding some Pre-Crash training videos on how to be a better batter to raise my Skill.

That's how I visualize the potentials vs skills to work at least. The non-physical Potentials/Skills break down the illustration, but hopefully that shows at least one angle to look at it from.

PS - welcome to tabletop RPG's! It's a blast

Three days on that fire escape. My specs died as I posted to the forums and I knew I was dead. The clacking never stopped from the street beneath me and the thuds of the C's inside the apartment were my constant companions. I won't say that the single bullet left in my chamber wasn't calling to me, but I also won't hide I was too frozen to even sit up and look about, before I heard the whirring of that carrier drone heading my way.

Dadalos, I don't know where you muster the trust to send resources a third of the way across the country without confirmation, but I owe you my life. I had to haul it back to Bridge and give it a recharge, but your drone is headed back to you via return pattern as I type this, and the crypt should be in the bank. Many thanks.

Crazy thing is, I think the bottle of water was the biggest boon to me getting off that wretched platform. I popped the window and then kited the bastards up the stairs easy enough but once I got in I was accosted by this freaking LALA hermit demanding I pay the toll with an assault rifle toting dronkey standing beside him. I'm trying to decide what to do and he spots that bottle of water, goes all glassy eyed, and asks for it. I oblige and get the heck out. I already drank half of it as it were.

Anyway, thanks for my life D. Takers gotta take, but it's something to know we still have each other's backs out here.

Oh and Deus, sorry to clutter your thread. Heat of the moment and all.

Thank you all so much for the help!

Next question: do charges on things like specs in laptops get burned when a player character answers a call as well as making a call, or is it just when they instigate the use of their gear?

We've got a little joint over here near bridge that used to be one of those sports bar type places. A few entrepreneurial types got together a year or so back and outfitted the place with solar, managed to salvage a handful of professional game recordings from pre crash days, and figured out they could attempt to cook some things readily accessible. Fish fried in old oil with cattail fries would have sounded awful back in the old days, but you get a chance to watch a game and have some fish and chips and the worries melt off for a bit. Seen the games a dozen times, but doesn't get old, and only costs a bounty for them to set up shop for you. One problem we have is that the NB is outside the fence, and sometimes you end up dealing with C's or worse going to an fro. I'm still not sure if it's worth it when that happens.

what's your lucky charm that you always carrry with you on jobs?

Part of the reason Owl is having trouble getting Cs to be dangerous for us is his bad dice rolls.  ;) Every time he rolls, the mobs are either 9 or 10 shambles away giving us plenty of time to waste them before they are a threat.  You need to stop using my cursed Bright-luck dice!

Hah this is true!

Any tips on running generic mobs of C's?

I know that C's are like the weather, and my Takers are very prepared, very tactical, and very methodical, but mobs of C's basically have just become something that burns charges of guns and equipment rather than causing any concern of danger.

Johnny Apple C

The takers hear the sound of whistling coming from around the side of a building, accompanied by a few clanging sounds and then the sound of digging. When they investigate, they see a man standing over two dead C's. He is digging up the earth in patches near each one with the shovel he just used to dispatch them. As they watch, he pulls seeds from a pouch at his side, drops them in the overturned earth, and covers them before walking off, whistling the entire time.

If they approach the man, they find that he is a Believer and that Reclamation is what he holds to. His particular brand of belief has led him to want there to be provision to reclaim when T Minus never happens, and in his cracked state has grasped on to the tall tale of his childhood. He is friendly, but has nothing to trade, and is eager to continue his quest.

Takers roll self-control (detatchment) to let the man continue on alone, surely to his death; or (stress) to be reminded that reclamation most likely will never come. As they go on their way they see other C's that have been dispatched and seeds planted beside each corpse.

Seems incredibly specific.

I definitely agree. In my campaign I actually see the crew pulling one of these off of someone who tried to capture them before spending bounty to buy one. Perhaps a character who refuses to kill humans would find it useful, but more likely than not it would be used in a bounty hunter situation.
